Advice On Texas Background Checks

Data for Texas criminal records is called by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and they use a system called TCCHS, short for Texas Computerized Criminal History System. The Department of Public System is who the local criminal justice agencies report to, and once the info has been reported, it is compiled in the system. This is all part of the Texas Criminal Justice Information System, and the Department of Criminal Justice is the agency that oversees the information system.

If you want to obtain criminal records in the state, then you can send a $10 payment to the Department of Public Safety, and non-criminal justice agencies are the ones who have to send the request, and the inquiry can include an individual’s gender, name and their date of birth, as well as their ethnicity. You can also obtain a fingerprint based records check, but this will cost you $15, and you can do all of this on your own. However, you can do it via the fingerprinting system (DPS FAST) or if you have a print of fingerprints on a card.

You can visit the Department of Public Safety’s website and pay $3.50 to request records right online. If you want to receive a hard copy, then you have to pay $10. Free access to criminal justice agencies is given and this can be done via the TLETS, short for Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System.
